Chamroeun Heng was born and raised in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Growing up surrounded by family members in the medical field, he was inspired to continue his higher education at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Health Science in Phnom Penh. In 2002, he moved to California where he received his Bachelors of Arts degree in Molecular and Cell Biology with emphasis on Neurobiology at the University of California at Berkeley. He subsequently went on to work in protein engineering and biofuel research at the US Department of Agriculture in Albany, CA. With continued strong interest in Medicine, Dr Heng chose to attend medical school at St George’s University in Grenada where he received his Doctor of Medicine degree in 2014. He is currently in his third year of Internal Medicine residency training at St Mary Medical Center in Long Beach, a UCLA affiliated program. Dr Heng enjoys the challenge of learning and teaching Medicine as well as providing excellent care for his patients.

Dr Heng always takes strong interest in education and community work. He has been involved in various local community programs that help struggling immigrant families and students of disadvantaged backgrounds. He joined CHPAA in 2014 and went to CHPAA mission for the first time in February 2016. He played a key role in assembling and training a team of Cambodian medical students to provide health education to patients and families during the mission. He looks forward to future MISSION with goals of improving standard of care by training local healthcare providers and bridging gaps between patients and providers via health education.
