Vice President, Dentist

Dr. Kosal Kom was born in Takeo Province, Cambodia. After surviving the Khmer Rouge Killing Fields, he came to the United States with his widowed mother and two younger siblings in December 1983. After successfully obtaining a high school diploma from Belmont High school in Los Angeles, he attended the University of California, Santa Barbara for one year and the University of Southern California for two years. He was accepted to USC Dental School after his third year of college, and earned the degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery in May 1993.

He has been practicing general and cosmetic dentistry in Long Beach, California for the past 26 years. It is safe to say that Dr. Kom was the first Cambodian- born dentist to open his practice and serve the Khmer communities in Southern California.

He is a member of the California Dental Association and the American Dental Association. He served on the Board of Trustees of Miller Children’s Hospital in Long Beach. He was also a Board of Director of the United Cambodian Students of America and the United Cambodian Community, a local non-profit organization. Besides being actively involved in the community, Dr. Kom is an avid Khmer-chess player and golfer. He also enjoys fishing, skiing, and traveling with his family.

He has received numerous awards: The Katherine White Humanitarian Award (The Children’s Clinic, Long Beach), Outstanding Community Service Excellence Merit Award 2010 (Cambodian American Business Association), Outstanding Volunteer Award (Healthy Kids Coalition of Long Beach ), Immunization Innovation Award (California Department of Health Services, presented by the former First Lady of California, Gayle Wilson), Special Recognition for Southeast Asian Immunization Video Project (UCLA School of Public Health), Outstanding Volunteer Award (United Cambodian Community).
