Borin Manestitaya, RN
Since 2011, Borin Manestitaya has worked as a Registered Nurse at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center in Downey for the County of Los Angeles in an acute Med-Surg Unit.
She graduated from West Coast University (Anaheim, CA) with an Associate Degree in Nursing in August, 2010; Vocational Nursing program from Long Beach City College, and an Associate Degree in Science in 2007. She completed a Dental Assistant Program and Radiation Safety certificate and license from Long Beach City College in 1985, and worked in an Endodontic Dental Clinic from 1985 to 1990.In addition to working at Rancho Los Amigos, she and her husband continue to run a small business in Long Beach, CA. from 1990 to the present day.
Borin Manestitaya was born in Cambodia, in Kampong Speu Province. She and her family moved from Kampong Speu to Svay Rieng when she was three years old. Later she moved to Battambang with her family until eventually escaping to Thailand. Like many Cambodian people, she and her family lived through the war in Cambodia and survived through the Pol Pot Regime. With her strong willed mother, Ms. Manestitaya and her three younger sisters and a brother were able to escape from Cambodia to Thailand and were eventually relocated to Plymouth, Wisconsin.
Because of the experiences she lived through and atrocities she witnessed, her dream of becoming a nurse, a teacher, and a volunteer nurse is even more rewarding than she could have imagined. Borin recognizes that her accomplishments were realized only with the help and support of her husband, families, friends, teachers, coworkers, managers, and supervisors at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center and the CHPAA organization.
Serving as a volunteer member for such an instrumental organization as CHPAA is not only an honor but a personally rewarding experience. The Cambodian Health Professional Association of America (CHPAA) has given her the privilege to be part of a volunteer group to help the most underprivileged people in Cambodia.
